MIRA Riesling 2023

MIRA is a winery within a winery. Born out of a desire to work more closely and freely together, it is a joint project between Milan and his wife, Mirka Nestarcová, who is the visionary behind it.

“She leads it philosophically and directs it the way she feels. If necessary, I also help out,” he says, joking that he’s just around to do the heavy lifting. The couple acquired new vineyards in the villages of Velké Bílovice and Moravský Žižkov, Moravia, in 2022, which they allow to grow wild — there’s little or no pruning, allowing the vines to reach for the sun.  

Riesling is hand-harvested and undergoes partial carbonic maceration in open vats, then gently pressed. Finishes fermenting in 1100-liter acacia barrels. Bottled from coarse lees, 6 months after harvest. Unfined, unfiltered, 5ppm sulfur added at bottling.
